SKILL DEVELOPMENT IS HAPPENING FRIDAY, MAY 24 :-)
**1/2 GIRLS PRACTICE MOVED TO ANDREW'S PARK FOR REMAINDER OF 2019 SEASON**
The Skills Development program is for girls in grades 1 & 2. Practice is held once per week, on Friday evenings, 6:15-7:15pm, starting April 5, 2018. This program is a great way to introduce girls to lacrosse in a non-competitive environment. It is a chance to foster a love of the game in a fun way, while teaching the critical skills of womens lacrosse, including throwing, catching, ground balls, cradling and more!
Skills Development program starts in the beginning of April, is played outdoors, and runs for 8 sessions.
In the event of a cancelation due to weather, we will announce via email. Field closures will also be posted at www.miltonlacrosse.org in green/yellow/red on the right side of the homepage.
Due to excessive rain this season, Upton Field has been closed and Skill Development practices will move to Andrew's Park in East Milton.
During the Milton Youth Lacrosse Registration for Grade 1&2 Girls, you will be directed to the US Lacrosse webpage to activate or renew the registrants US Lacrosse membership, which covers the insurance for players and coaches. Once your membership is active, you should be redirected back to Milton Youth Lacrosse Registration page to complete the registration for Milton. If you have any issues, please email
Please check the Milton Youth Lacrosse website: www.miltonlacrosse.org for updated information now and throughout the season.
You are able to update your personal info on the site at any time with your password.
Girls are asked to come to practice ready to play with the required equipment:
- A regulation girl’s or women's lacrosse stick. Last year MYL purchased 60 Warp Jr. Sticks for our 1/2 program. They were great for the girls learning to play! We hope to be able to continue to offer sticks on loan this year., though that will depend on all sticks being returned to MYL.
- Lacrosse goggles. You can check the US Lacrosse website, Goggle Page for more info
- Mouth guard.
- Sturdy athletic shoes are a must. We recommend cleats as the fields can get slick with spring weather conditions, but sneakers are fine too.
- Water bottle.
- A positive attitude :-)
NO Crocs, Teva's or sandals of any kind will be allowed on the field.
You do not need gloves they are optional.
Practices are broken in to smaller groups and rotate to different skill stations throughout the practice. While we don't have formal games at this age, the girls will have a chance to scrimmage during throughout the session.
Parents interested in volunteering to coach are welcome to register and have a chance to learn lacrosse with their girls, no prior lacrosse experience is necessary.
