MILTON BOYS & GIRLS TRAVEL LACROSSE OVERVIEW
MASS YOUTH TRAVEL LACROSSE LEAGUE BRIEF
The goal at this level is to teach the sport with a focus on sportsmanship and teamwork over score, developing players in a positive environment, and providing a fun experience that will foster a lifetime love of the game!
Travel Teams are rostered by grade, with an evenly balanced distribution of player ability across each team. All travel teams from each town are equal in skill (no A team, B team)
League requires equal playing time for grades 1-4 travel players, with the primary focus of the game being on learning the sport vs. score of the game.
Grades 5-8 playing time should still be as equal as possible, with players being on the field for at least a total of half of the game time.
Weekly scores are reported to the town director to share with the League. Coaches should make every effort to avoid a vast difference in scores as that would create a negative experience for children and indicate poor sportsmanship by a coach.
For players in 5th-8th grade that are ready to play at a higher level, with playoffs, we also participate in the MYL Boys and Girls Select Leagues. Select programs are an add-on league to Travel, players must fully participate in their Travel team practices and games to be eligible for Select.
